5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny
Reviewed in the United States on 26 April 2016
Excellent all around training gloves. Like many other users have stated, they are a bit heavier than measured; but it plays into training very well when you change up gloves (assuming most other's have multiple pairs you box with). Increases endurance and forces you to work on form.
Quality is top notch as expected and the full leather grain is very thick and supple. Every stitch is well set and the hand compartment is about as comfortable as it gets. For bag work, you'll find these pad the hands and offer excellent wrist protection. Even with power sessions, you can full blast and still have plenty in reserve. Sparring sessions are great and your partner will thank you for wearing them.

Fit is good at 16oz. Hand compartment is tight with hand-wraps until broken in. Even when they do loosen up a bit, there's zero movement to screw up your form.

As great as these are, this doesn't mean you won't have any hand, wrist and arm pain at the end of the night; you just won't have any during training sessions. Padding is ample and the gel adds a luxurious touch. Break-in period is just over 7 days. (My training consists of 6 days a week, twice a day, and I rotate between 3 sets of gloves including Title Black Sparring and Cleto Reyes).

3.0 out of 5 stars Are They "Professional" Grade?
Reviewed in the United States on 13 November 2012
My original review of these gloves heaped a ton of praise on them. I said they were comfortable, protective, well-constructed and just plain fun to use. Before I go into my updated review, I want to say that all that praise is still true; these are good gloves, good enough for any student of the martial arts (okay, boxing most likely). So now why, after about 6 months of use, have I degraded my original review from 4 stars to 3? It's because I'm starting to understand the meaning of the term "Professional Grade."

In the past I would often wonder why certain boxing reviewers would say a type of glove, usually an expensive one, was "Professional" while other gloves that seemed just as good, but were far cheaper, weren't. I'm not talking about the cheap Everlasts you can pick up at Big 5 for $30; I'm talking about a quality pair of IMF (Injected Molded Foam) boxing gloves that offer, arguably, an equal level of Protection to Winning, the pinnacle of gloves, for a 1/3rd of the price. I always thought it was snobbery, elitism, a way for some with the money to buy Grants, Winnings, Cleto Reyes and Everlasts (Protex3s), to feel as if they were better than the common gym rat.

However, after 6 months with the TITLE Gel Intense Bag/Sparring glove I'm beginning to understand the difference between "Professional" brands and "Toy" brands and quite frankly these gloves lie somewhere in the middle. The biggest reason for this change of heart is the weight of the gloves, more specifically how much they're supposed to weigh. The label weight stitched into the glove reads 16oz but the actual weight, of ONE glove not two, is around 2 pounds. Originally this didn't bother me. I looked at the extra weight as a bonus, something that would help me to further develop my shoulders and stamina. Yet with continual use I found the weight a complete detriment. Bag work took extra effort and I felt as if my technique was slipping considerably. I know some people train with weighted gloves, but honestly, 18oz has always been the sweet spot for me. They're way too heavy for Pad Work so forget about that. Sparring with them was a complete bust as well, simply because the extra weight not only tires you out faster (a lot faster) but the size makes it that much harder to sneak in counters and do any kind of precision work.

Finally, and this really drove home the "Toy" aspect of the TITLE Gels, is the insignia and name of the gloves themselves. The GEL logo is plastered all over and is an acronym for Gel Enforced Lining. That's right the G in TITLE Gel stands for Gel and is even printed under the G wherever the logo is (on the thumb, and on the back of the cuff). It sounds like a small thing but stop for a moment and think how silly that sounds. That combined with the bright colors (the red), the ridiculous weight and overall clumsiness of the gloves make me think that these things aren't meant for the serious fighter.

There's a reason people pay hundreds of dollars for certain gloves; it's a matter of quality, craftsmanship, integrity (adhering to label weight) and presentation (no silly "GEL" logos). If you don't have money for any of the high-end brands I've mentioned ($400 Winning Gloves namely and who the hell does?) then go out and buy yourself a pair of Muay Thai gloves. Try these as a matter of fact: Boon Sport Leather Training Gloves. Nearly all Muay Thai gloves are hand made in Thailand and their construction, at least in my experience with Boon, Windy and Fairtex, rivals their handmade-in-Mexico (Grants) and Japan (Winning) counterparts for considerably less money. Cheers.

5.0 out of 5 stars The world's greatest gloves
Reviewed in the United States on 24 October 2011
okay, the title might be stretching it. and i've only ever tried Everlast and Twins. but that's really how these gloves feel whenever i put them on.

    pros:
    - easily the most comfortable gloves on the market, dollar for dollar
    - superb wrist support, i.e. wrist strap is cushioned and cone-shaped
    - gel lining feels plush and protective
    - eliminates knuckle pain (i've always had knuckle pain working on the heavy bag especially after a couple of weeks of inactivity. but with these i felt NO PAIN AT ALL even after a month of slacking)
    - impeccable craftsmanship
    - multipurpose: good for sparring and bag work
    - wrist cuffs for sparring
    - killer looks
    - customer support is among the best

    cons:
    - heavier than regular gloves. my 16 oz pair actually weighs 44.8 oz combined. but its comfort level negates this and i personally don't mind as the added weight gives a better workout. and i'm only 135 lbs, not a fighter
    - wish the strap's velcro portion could be bigger, as i'm used to Twins' wrist-spanning velcro strap

    final words:
i've just received these gloves 2 weeks ago so i can't judge their durability. but the quality craftsmanship suggests they can take quite a beating. for my money (and the price), you can't get better gloves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great gloves, but too heavy.
Reviewed in the United States on 8 May 2013
This was my original review and remains true:
    *****
I've been doing bag workout and sparring with these glove for several months now. They fit great. They are very comfortable and supportive.

    After two years of boxing:
    ****
It seems that I always tire out too quickly during sparring so I decided to weight my gloves. My gloves are rated at 16oz, but the left glove weighs 23oz and the right weighs 24.5oz. What's worse, I bought 14oz gloves for my daughter (who weighs only 110lbs), and it turns out her gloves weigh the same as mine! Now, she has always complained about her shoulder hurting her, but the pain comes and goes. Now I have to wonder if the extra heavy gloves have something to do with it.

    Conclusion:
    1. Don't get these gloves for your younger kids, especially girls.
    2. If you're guy in my weight range (170lbs) these are great for bag work. They will really help you get in shape, and the wrist support is wonderful. However, once you get into more competitive sparring, I recommend you get real sparring gloves which have an actual weight of 16 to 18oz max. I would not consider these sparring gloves, but rather just "bag" gloves.

They are still 5 star bag gloves for men. I lowered my rating to 4 star because they need to come clean with the weight issue, especially for the 14oz and under category.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice and comfy for XL hands
Reviewed in the United States on 1 March 2022
I have very large XL hands and tried several other pairs of 16 oz. gloves before buying these. First I tried Hayabusa, the ones everyone raves about, and while very nice, they were WAY too small. I could barely get my hands in, even before putting on wraps. Next I tried Fairtex. They were very nice and I wanted to like them, but they did not have enough room for my fist and caused pain in my knuckles after one workout. The radius of the curve inside the glove was too small and put direct pressure on my 2nd knuckle. By contrast, these Title gloves have been wonderfully comfortable since day one, the gel provides excellent padding, and they have plenty of room for my big-ass hands. They are also very nicely made and I highly recommend.
