LFA 159 “Polastri Vs Conceicao” + Weekly MMA News

UFC Vegas 73 was a low-key card on the piece of paper, but it turned into one of the most entertaining events of 2023. There were so many great finishes and stoppages, and the UFC head honcho Dana White was pretty much impressed.

UFC Vegas 73 Throwback

Mackenzie Dern dominated Angela Hill in the main event of the evening for a decision win, but there were many other high-quality bouts too. Dern and Hill also earned the Fight of the Night bonus.

Other Performance of the Night awards went into the hands of Diego Ferreira and Viacheslav Borshchev, both of whom banked extra 50,000 dollars for their highlight-reel knockouts.

Viacheslav took part in a great stand-up war against Maheshate and floored him with a violent fist, while Diego Ferreira was down on the scorecards after the first, but surprisingly landed a big overhand right that floored Michael Johnson in the second.

LFA 159 Announcement

Unfortunately, there is no UFC fight night or PPV card this week. Road To UFC: Shanghai will take place, but the bout order is not finalized yet, so we’ll take a look at the LFA 159 fight card. It will go down on Saturday, May 27th, 2023. You can watch it at UFC on Fight Pass. The event will go down in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The card is headlined by the 115-pound title bout between the division champ Julia Polastri and an undefeated Brazilian prospect Rose Conceicao.

Polastri competed at Dana White Contender Series in the past, where she was outworked by fellow UFC fighter Jasmine Jasudavicius. She is an all-around fighter with superb cardio and a great technical aspect of the game.

On the other hand, Rose Conceicao is a dangerous ground fighter with an amazing submission game and world-class scrambles. Yet, if the fight advances into later rounds, Polastri could leave the Octagon with her hand raised due to her amazing cardio.

Prediction: Polastri to win

The co-main event brings another title bout. This time, Rodolfo Bellato will square off against Acacio dos Santos in an interim Light Heavyweight title battle.

Bellato is known for its lovely ground game and excellent Muay Thai. His only two losses in his whole career came to the UFC fighter Vitor Petrino. He’s a kill-or-be-killed type of fighter, so you can expect a great performance on his end.

Acacio dos Santos was having ups and downs in his last few matches. He gave Swedish UFC fighter Anton Turkalj a hard time at the Dana White Contender Series but lost that fight via decision. Acacio later bounced back with a great win against Jackson Goncalves. This technical fighter is now looking for another UFC shot, and this is his moment of truth.

Prediction: the fight will not go the distance
