UFC Vegas 83 ‘Song Vs. Guttierez’ + Weekly MMA News

UFC Austin was a solid card with many great finishes. Arguably the most entertaining Fight Night in 2023 ended with a great performance by Arman Tsarukyan, who turned the lights out on legendary Beneil Dariush via an amazing punch to the head in the first minute of the fight.

UFC Austin Rewards

Dana White was extremely generous last weekend. Every single stoppage, including two slams, was rewarded with an extra 50k. Jared Gooden, Drakkar Klose, Cody Brundage, Miesha Tate, Dustin Stoltzfus, Sean Brady, Jalin Turner, and Arman Tsarukyan can buy a lot of new stuff after the last weekend’s event.

As expected, the Fight of the Night award went into the hands of Rodolfo Bellato and Ihor Potieria. The Ukrainian rocked the Brazilian badly in the second, but Bellato recovered and finished his opponent via one of the most legendary comebacks in the history of the UFC. Both fighters banked an extra 50k.

UFC Vegas 83 Announcement

After a great card in Texas, the UFC travels back to Las Vegas, Nevada, for another fight card in the UFC Apex Center. This time, the clash between cardio phenom Song Yadong and powerful striker Chris Gutierrez headlines the contest.

Song Yadong’s cardio is on a whole different level, he rarely gasses thanks to a lot of strength and conditioning workouts per week. Song likes to press his opponents, but he can also take part in a tricky war. He’s got no problem with five-round combats, and he gets the advantage if the battle gets dragged into championship rounds.

On the other hand, Chris Guttierez is a very powerful striker, a one-punch knockout artist with excellent offensive game and magnificent takedown defense. He likes to stand and bang, but his get-up game is also good. He likes to bench press and deadlift, so he’ll be looking for an early knockout here.

Prediction: the fight will not go the distance

The co-main event brings the 205-pound battle between Anthony Smith and dangerous hard-hitting hillbilly Khalil Rountree Jr. Anthony Smith is a former title contender, known for his great chin and excellent ground game. On the other hand, Rountree is a Muay Thai powerhouse with very hard kicks, knees, and punches. He likes strength training sessions, and hits harder than Jon Jones in his prime, so Anthony Smith should be very cautious. One way or another, this could end before the final bell.

Prediction: the fight will not go the distance

There aren’t many big names on this fight card, but I suggest you give it a shot. Many young guns will try to score some highlight-reel stoppages. One more thing, there are many fighters from Asia, but the card starts at a great time for the USA fans. You might see some new moves, you never know!
