UFC Vegas 59 “Santos Vs Hill” + Weekly MMA News

UFC 277 was a superb event to watch. Amanda Nunes fought very wisely, outsmarting and outstriking Julianna Pena for five rounds, reclaimed her 135-pound belt, and she’s a two-division champion again. But the quickest finish was seen in the clash between two heavy-hitting hillbillies, Sergei Pavlovich and Derrick Lewis, where Pavlovich stopped his opponent in the first minute of the match.

Brandon Moreno finished Kai-Kara France in the fourth round with a body kick and a barrage of ground strikes, but Drew Dober also scored a vicious TKO via a left shovel hook to the opponent’s liver.

The Fight of the Night award was given to Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France, both of them earned an extra 50k for a great technical scrap that ended in Mexican’s TKO win. Drew Dober earned the Performance of the Night award, alongside Alexandre Pantoja, who surprisingly submitted Alex Perez in the early stages of their flyweight battle via spectacular standing body triangle rear-naked choke.

This weekend, the promotion returns to the UFC Apex Center for another high-level UFC Vegas event, headlined by the clash of two dangerous Brazilian knockout artists – Jamahal Hill and Thiago Santos. The co-main event brings Vicente Luque vs Geoff Neal, but this event also hosts bouts between TUF 30 finalists – Zac Pauga vs Mohammed Usman and Juliana Miller Vs Brogan Walker.

The event is going to kick off on Saturday, August 6th, 2022, at 7 PM ET (midnight UK time), and you can watch it on ESPN+ (UFC Fight Pass for European fans).

The main event of the evening is very much unpredictable. Thiago Santos can take part in tactical five-round warfare, or his fight could end in the first round. Jamahal Hill is a pretty similar type of fighter. Both guys are heavy-handed strikers. Both guys are known for violent punches and spending hours in the gym.

Prediction: the fight will not go the distance, or Hill to win (-260)

Vicente Luque is known for violent knockout bombs and great BJJ, while Geoff Neal’s punch power is legendary. His nickname is “Handz of Steel” for a reason, there were many one-punch knockouts throughout his career. Neal offers better angling and head movement, but Luque’s pressure, cardio, and the offensive game might be too much to handle.

Prediction: Luque to win (-175)
