UFC Vegas 75 “Vettori Vs Cannonier” + Weekly MMA Report

UFC 289 was a nice event to watch. Amanda Nunes defended her 135-pound strap against Irene Aldana and retired as a two-division champion. Canadian fighters went 6-0 on the card.

UFC 289 Recap

The co-main event was a banger, where Charles Oliveira destroyed Beneil Dariush with brutal hammer fists in the first round for an extra 50k.

Mike Malott also earned additional 50,000 dollars for his D’Arce to guillotine choke submission switch win over Adam Fugitt. Also, the debutant Stephen Erceg outworked David Dvorak for a decision win and earned the Performance of the Night bonus. It was a very rare moment in the history of this competition, as Dana White rarely awards fighters who don’t finish their foes.

The Fight of the Night bonus went into the hands of Marc-Andre Barriault and Eryk Anders, who took part in a three-round war in the first fight of the main card, which ended with a victory for the Canadian all-around fighter.

UFC Vegas 75 Marvin Vettori vs Jared Cannonier

The main event of the evening brings a very promising five-round fight between the guy with one of the greatest chins in the history of the competition, Marvin “The Italian Dream” Vettori, and wrestling expert Jared “Killa Gorilla” Cannonier.

Marvin Vettori has never been rocked or knocked out, his head can take an enormous amount of damage. One of the toughest fighters in MMA history is coming fresh off a decision win over Roman Dolidze, and he’ll be looking to extend his winning streak with technical strikes and amazing fight IQ.

Jared Cannonier likes to take the fight to the ground and dominate from the top position. But Marvin Vettori’s takedown defense and get-up skills are amazing, so he’ll have to participate in a stand-up war against a very technical Italian mixed martial artist. Vettori gets the edge here, but this will probably turn into a very long, tactical fight.

Prediction: over 3.5 rounds or Vettori to win

The co-main is fun to watch too. An Armenian powerful wrestler with a brutally strong punch and kick power, Arman Tsarukyan, will try to defeat an excellent Brazilian ground expert, Joaquim Silva. Tsarukyan was set to meet Renato Moicano, but that bout was scrapped, so Silva stepped in as a replacement. This is a 3-round fight, so it shouldn’t be a big challenge for the Armenian.

Prediction: Arman Tsarukyan to win
