UFC 278 “Usman Vs Edwards 2” + Weekly MMA Report

UFC on ESPN 41 was a very entertaining card to watch. Unfortunately, Dominick Cruz was up on the scorecards against Marlon Vera but the Ecuadorian caught him with a left high kick in the fourth for a knockout victory. It led to a Performance of the Night Award.

Tyson Nam scored a Performance of the Night award with a KO win over Ode Osbourne. Osbourne missed with a flying knee, and Nam teleported him to another dimension via big right.

The Fight of the Night bonus was given to featherweights David Onama and Nate Landwehr, who took part in a great three-round scrap, where Landwehr scored a majority decision win.

Bellator 284 will be remembered for a massive upset in the main event of the evening, as Goiti Yamauchi stopped Neiman Gracie in the second.

The upcoming weekend brings another pay-per-view event, UFC 278, which is headlined by a rematch between Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards. In their first fight, “The Nigerian Nightmare” scored a victory, but Leon now comes in the best shape of his life. Don’t forget, the promotion travels to Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah, The United States of America.

Kamaru Usman is one of the most powerful guys in the history of this competition. He kicked off as the great wrestler, then transitioned to one of the most well-rounded guys ever. His knockout victory over Jorge Masvidal and TKO stoppage against Gilbert Burns show great punch power thanks to amazing strength and power gym session.

Leon Edwards is a chinny, durable fighter with great toe-to-toe skills and outstanding cardio. He endured and outworked Nate Diaz in a five-round scrap, so he could get an advantage if the bout advances into the later rounds.

Prediction: Usman to win (-350)

In the co-main event, the former title contender Paulo Costa is going to meet the legendary ex-185-pound champion and master grappler Luke Rockhold. Costa is a BJJ black belt, but Luke Rockhold is a master of ground fighting. Costa has knockout power in his hands, so as long as he keeps the fight standing, there shouldn’t be problems for him. One way or the other, this one is going to end before the final bell.

Prediction: the fight will not go the distance, or Costa to win (-300)
