UFC 283 “Teixeira Vs Hill” + Weekly MMA Report

UFC has finally returned to action after a three-week layoff, and there were many high-quality battles at UFC Vegas 67. In the main event of the evening, Sean Strickland outworked Nassourdine Imavov in a five-round technical warfare for a lovely decision victory.

Four fighters earned an extra 50k Performance of the Night bonuses on this card. Dan Ige stopped Damon Jackson in the second round with a violent fist to the face.

Punahele Soriano was swinging widely in the first, but gassed out in the second, which led to a TKO finish for dangerous Siberian striker Roman Kopylov.

The other two awards went into the hands of Umar Nurmagomedov, who floored Raoni Barcelos with a massive punch in the first, and Allan Nascimento, who scored a standing rear-naked choke submission win in the preliminary card.

This week, we’ve got the first PPV (pay-per-view) event of the year 2023. The promotion travels to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for a top-notch event, headlined by the 205-pound title bout between Jamahal Hill and Glover Teixeira. Another high-level combat happens in the semi-final, where Brandon Moreno participates in the fourth clash with Deiveson Figueiredo.

The main event of the evening literally happened out of nowhere, as Jiri Prochazka had to vacate the title due to a shoulder injury, while Ankalaev vs Blachowicz ended in a draw. Jamahal Hill is a very powerful puncher thanks to his endless heavy bag sessions, but Teixeira is one of the most dominant submission warriors in the history of this sport. One way or another, this fight will hardly last for 25 minutes.

Prediction: the fight will not go the distance

Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo have already taken part in three wars. One win for Moreno, one victory for the Brazilian, and one bout ended in a draw. The fourth match should show which fighter is better. Figgy is the division champion, but Moreno kicks very hard, which we’ve seen in the match against Kai Kara-France. This could turn into a tactical battle.

Prediction: fight starts round 4
